The Internal Medicine Bedside Ultrasound Program, "IMBUS", started in 2011, is one of the most extensive diagnostic and procedural ultrasound training programs in the country for our Internal Medicine residents and faculty. Our faculty core of ultrasound mentors allow us to provide our residents with extensive hands-on training at the bedside throughout the 3 years of residency in both the hospital and clinic setting.
The residency program has been using extensive simulation training for procedural skills and physical exam over the last 8 years. The residency's Center for Clinical Simulation completed in 2010 adds an additional layer to simulation-based training, and provides state-of-the-art high-fidelity simulation for multi-disciplinary training in code situations, emergency management, and high-risk/low-frequency scenarios.
The Minneapolis Heart Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Hennepin County Medical Center have an ACGME-accredited fellowship in general cardiology, sub-fellowships in interventional, advanced heart failure, and one of the Nation's 5 valve & structural heart disease fellowships. These fellowships are a wonderful opportunity for individuals to experience world-class cardiology at two distinct sites in Minneapolis.
